The people behind the standard

Valhalla isn't built around one person, it's built around a standard of care. Here's who upholds it.

Jim Osenenko, DC
FOUNDER & CEO  ·  Lead Clinician

Dr. Jim built Valhalla Performance out of a frustration he'd lived from every side. As an athlete, he spent years dealing with injuries and being handed the same tired answers: rest it, modify, learn to live with it. As a clinician, he watched good people get failed by a system that treats symptoms and moves on. And as a son, he saw it happen to his own parents. At a certain point the conclusion was obvious: care could be so much better than this, so he built the place that does it differently.

That place runs on one standard: figure out why the body is actually breaking down, rebuild it, and make sure it holds. Dr. Jim's approach blends hands-on treatment with the performance training most clinics never touch, informed by years of his own training and certifications including CrossFit L1 and L2 and Pre-Script L1, and thousands of hours spent learning how the body really moves, loads, and recovers.

But the bigger vision is what drives him now. Valhalla isn't built around one practitioner. It's built around a standard. The goal is a practice where it doesn't matter whose name is on the door that day: whether you see a chiropractor or a physical therapist, if it's at Valhalla, your outcome is the entire point. That's the company he's building, and the reason he's slowly shifting from full-time treatment toward leading it.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Jim is happiest training, spending time with his wife and son, and out in the water when he can, surfing is a lifelong love he wishes he got to more often. And if you spot a dog wandering the clinic, that's Kelso, who makes the occasional unscheduled appearance.

Christine Ortega
Christine Ortega
MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

Christine works behind the scenes to make sure people don't just find Valhalla, they understand who we are, how we approach care, and why they're in the right place before they ever walk through the door.

Her background combines communications, storytelling, and process improvement. Before Valhalla, she produced content for a travel media brand and worked in higher education, where she trained staff, built onboarding resources, and helped people navigate important life decisions, roles that demand equal parts creativity, organization, and problem-solving.

Outside of work, she's with her family, traveling, cooking, or deep into a home remodel. Left unsupervised, she'll spend a whole weekend convincing herself that a project she wasn't planning to do has suddenly become a priority.

Tara Smith
Tara Smith
PATIENT DIRECTOR

Tara is the first person you'll talk to on the phone, and her job is to make sure you feel entirely safe, heard, and taken care of before you ever step foot in the building.

Before moving into patient care, she spent years working as a registered nurse, hands-on experience navigating the real vulnerabilities people face when they're seeking help. Paired with her degree in exercise science, she brings a grounded understanding of how the body handles trauma, stress, and recovery.

When she's not at work, Tara is running, taking on Spartan races, exploring local trails with her dog, or spending time with her family.
